UNiTE Walk against Gender-Based Violence

This is how we stride against gender-based violence!

The morning of 2 December kicked-off with a 2km UNiTE Walk around Petaling Street — a colourful display of solidarity between YWCA KL’s Vocational Training Opportunity Centre (VTOC), Persatuan Pandu Puteri Kuala Lumpur, and Soroptimist International Region of Malaysia, organised in conjunction with our 110th Anniversary celebrations and the United Nations' annual 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence Campaign.

At the heart of the event was also a panel discussion featuring speakers Mr. Leo Lourdes of ThinkLEO Solutions, ASP Nazatul Madiyah from the D11 Unit of PDRM, and Ms. Betty Yeoh, founding member of All Women's Action Society (AWAM).

"The challenges faced by women and girls during the Covid-19 pandemic have been profound, with a surge in violence. Now, as the world strives to recover, our UNiTE Walk and Panel Talk stands as a renewed call to action. We implore citizens to share the actions they are taking to create a world free from violence towards women,” said Joanne Yeoh, President, YWCA KL.
